Syria’s New Order, Israel, Trump, Turkey, and Britain are at the center of tonight’s debate on Syriana Analysis with guest Alex Krainer, author of the recent Substack piece “Middle East tectonic shift: is Israel slipping through the cracks?”
In his article, Alex argues that:
• The fall of the previous Syrian government and the rise of Jolani’s rule mark a tectonic shift in the Middle East.
• British and Turkish networks, not Washington, now have decisive influence in Damascus.
• Israel’s position is becoming more fragile as Syria, Turkey, Hamas and others grow in confidence.
• This could even be the beginning of what is often called “Kissinger’s prophecy” that in ten years “there will be no more Israel.”
I disagree with key parts of Alex’s analysis, especially on what really happened in Syria, who controls Jolani, and how much Israel is actually “slipping.” Tonight I’ll play devil’s advocate and push back, point by point:

• Did a relatively small HTS force really “overrun” the Syrian Arab Army – or is this a misleading narrative?
• Is Syria today primarily a British–Turkish project, or still heavily shaped by US and Israeli interests?
• Are we really seeing the end of the Sykes–Picot order, or just a new phase of foreign control under a different face?
• Is Israel truly on the verge of strategic collapse – or is that wishful thinking from its enemies and critics?
• What would a serious Syria–Israel confrontation look like under the new balance of power?
This will be a respectful but tough debate about power, maps and narratives in the Middle East: Syria’s new regime, Israel’s fears, Turkey’s ambitions, and the role of Washington, London and Moscow.
