We start with the Israel–Syria deal in Paris, where Israel and Syria agreed – under US mediation – to set up a dedicated communication line / joint “fusion mechanism” to coordinate on security, intelligence and even commercial issues. This mechanism is meant to de-escalate militarily and could pave the way toward a broader security agreement.
Then we move to Donald Trump’s new rhetoric on Iran. Standing next to Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump warned that if Iran tries to rebuild its nuclear or missile capabilities “we’re going to have to knock them down – we’ll knock the hell out of them,” signalling support for fresh strikes if Tehran crosses certain red lines.
We connect this to the recent US operation in Venezuela, where Maduro was seized in a dramatic raid that many analysts see as a message to Iran and Hamas that Trump is willing to back up threats with force far from US borders.
